Sedation Options

Because Dr. Tsai has had additional training as a Pediatric Dentist, she is licensed and well qualified to treat your child with any of the three forms of sedation.
Nitrous oxide is a blend of gases-oxygen and nitrous oxide. When inhaled, it is absorbed by the body and has a calming effect. Nitrous Oxide is perhaps the safest sedative in dentistry and is widely used in pediatric dentistry.
Oral conscious sedation is a management technique that uses medications to assist the child in coping with fear and anxiety without the loss of consciousness. All oral medications are administered and monitored by Dr. Tsai.
I.V. sedation or I.V. Anesthesia is a management technique that uses medications to enables the child to be asleep during dental treatment. The anesthesia is administered and monitored by a trained dental anesthesiologist. Children with severe anxiety and/or lack the ability to cooperate are good candidates.
Prior to the use of any type of sedative, Dr. Tsai will discuss with you the risks, benefits, and alternatives to the treatment.
